Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the second main entry in the series, originally released for the Sega Genesis. The game features enhanced speed, more complex stage designs, and improved graphical fidelity compared to its predecessor. It introduced the two-player cooperative mode, allowing friends to control Sonic and Tails simultaneously. The 'Spin Dash' ability was added, providing a new way to gain momentum quickly from a standstill. Players can also collect all Chaos Emeralds to transform into the powerful Super Sonic for the first time.
