Detailed Description

Released exclusively in Japan in 1996 for the Game Boy, this title launched the global Pokémon phenomenon. Players start their journey in Pallet Town after receiving their first partner from Professor Oak. The game challenges players to catch, train, and battle a variety of Pokémon across the Kanto region. Along the way, players must defeat the criminal organization Team Rocket and climb the ranks of the Pokémon League. Defeating all gym leaders and becoming the Champion is the ultimate goal. The game features unique Pokémon version exclusives, encouraging trades with other players via the Game Boy Link Cable. It established the core mechanics of exploration, turn-based combat, and creature collection that define the series today.
