Detailed Description
Turbo 16 is a cosy narrative-driven racing game about life and passion. The narrative, despite its subtle focus on dementia suffering, is one of positivity, nostalgia and compassion. The story is communicated through environmental storytelling and progresses via an arcade racing mechanic.
A solo developer effort, Turbo 16 depicts a coming-of-age narrative through the eyes of Ellis Helsby, its protagonist. Life is never truly straight-forward, dreams come and go, yet, the passion remains.
The game combines arcade racing and storytelling and provides players with both racing and story modes. In Turbo 16, the narrative elements and artifacts are revealed in the environment as players complete racing challenges in 3 different modes and classes.
Whilst Turbo 16 is a racing game and provides players with racing challenges, the game is equally a narrative experience and mechanisms have been implemented to ensure a smooth narrative progression for players less inclined towards arcade racing.
Currently in development, Turbo 16 will comprise 5 tracks and 30 cars upon release in 2026.
Playtime
Turbo 16 is intended to be a short, self-contained experience with an average playtime of 5 to 6 hours.
Controller Support
The game has been tested with an Xbox One controller (wired). Other controllers may be supported, but have not been tested by the developer.
There is currently no support for Playstation controllers.
