News of the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Square Enix's representative MMORPG 'Final Fantasy 14' was announced today (25th) at the 'Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival' held in Anaheim.
The Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival is the largest event symbolizing the IP. Every year, major news such as new expansion packs, new jobs, and races are announced at this event. At this year's event, a teaser trailer for the new expansion pack 8.0 version 'Silver Seeker' was released, and the new system 'Adventurer Activity', an evolved equipment system, the introduction of character skill skins, and a specific schedule for release in January 2027 were announced.

In addition to the expansion pack, the good news continued. This is a change in the global server matching system. The 'Free Matching within Region' function, which allows free matching on all servers within the same region, will be added, and testing will be conducted during the 7.5x patch period. Regarding this, PD Naoki Yoshida explained, "We plan to conduct testing in Japan first, and sequentially expand the area to North America, Europe, and China as soon as stability is secured."
Among the many news, what particularly attracted attention was the news of the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Final Fantasy 14 Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled to begin official service in August of this year. Prior to the official release, a pre-play service will be provided for about a month, and you can enjoy the game for free during that period.
In general, you often need to sign up for a separate paid membership to play online games on console platforms, but the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 14 is an exception. You can play the game without signing up for a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Of course, purchasing only the Nintendo Switch 2 package does not mean that you can use all services for free. Like other platforms, you must use a separate paid subscription service (monthly fee). However, if you are already using the Papan 14 monthly subscription on another platform, you can use it at a cheaper price. Producer Naoki Yoshida said, "If a user using a monthly subscription on another platform purchases the Switch 2 version package, they can add a monthly subscription at a 50% discount."
Final Fantasy 14 Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled to be serviced in August 2026, and prior to this, starting with patch 7.5 on April 28, patch 7.51 on June 2, patch 7.55 on July 28, and patch 7.56 on September 8 are scheduled to be released sequentially.
