Kakao Games has released the 5th developer note for ‘Chrono Odyssey,’ a PC/console-based AAA open world action MMORPG serviced by the company and being developed by Chrono Studio. In this note, the direction of character growth and various convenience improvements were discussed, focusing on the newly introduced matrix system.
The matrix system is a new node-based growth structure that allows users to develop characters according to their desired combat tendencies. Even if you deviate from the existing growth route and use the same class and weapon, differentiated battle patterns appear for each user depending on the selected stats, passive skills, and equipment options. If you meet certain growth conditions, you will gain additional abilities specialized for your combat style, changing the way you use skills and change your combat rhythm.
A helper system is also added to alleviate the increase in difficulty experienced during open world exploration. Users can battle with NPC helpers in certain sections, and this is designed as an optional support system rather than mandatory, so users can adjust the challenge method according to their level of skill. The development team announced that through this, they will help users grow naturally without losing direction even in a non-linear structure.
The value of worldview experience and rewards was increased through the monster equipment system. Users can acquire equipment that reflects the appearance and characteristics of the monster by defeating monsters throughout the world. Participation in various content, such as crafting, boss attack, and quest completion, is directly linked to changes in character appearance, and the equipment goes beyond simple performance indicators and plays a role in connecting the world view and combat experience.
Convenience is also improved. A stable environment is supported by introducing a multi-channel operation structure within a single server, and the ability to understand space has been improved by exposing world map quest markers, distinguishing the status of dungeon icons, and adding terrain height information to the compass. The development team said that this update is a step to expand the depth of battle and autonomy in growth, and that they plan to continue to improve completeness based on user opinions.
