The hardcore top-down shooter 'Kusan: City of Wolves' will be released on July 30. It will be available on PC (Steam), PS5, XSX|S, and Nintendo Switch as a digital version, with physical editions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch also being released.
The game is set in Kusan, a rain-soaked neon-noir city. Players take on the role of 'Jin,' a former soldier turned mercenary, tasked with protecting a girl equipped with a nuclear weapon capable of blowing up the entire city. The developer has adopted a chapter structure consisting of 54 handcrafted stages, incorporating skill-based puzzles and challenges for achieving an S-rank.
The combat system is designed around a combination of shooting, Quantum Blade attacks, parrying, and teleportation. Players can spend 'Bolts'—earned through kills and parry combos—to upgrade their combat prosthetic, the 'War Hand,' or to unlock new firearms and blades. A style scoring system is also included. Boss battles are structured as cinematic duels, each featuring unique mechanics and patterns.
The visuals adopt a pixel-art-based graphic novel style, with the story delivered through comic-panel-style cutscenes. The soundtrack was composed by Korean hip-hop artist 'Loptimist.' The game is currently available for wishlisting on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store, and a demo version is available for players to experience ahead of the launch.
