This is the result of the development team's strategic decision to lay the foundation for long-term box office success by adding depth of content instead of simple repetitive small-scale patches, as competition for market share of the extraction shooter genre has recently become fiercer in the global game market. It is interpreted as an improvement in the constitution to reduce the fatigue caused by frequent updates and fundamentally expand the game's economic structure and narrative.
Alexander Gröndal, executive producer at Embark Studio, explained, "Due to the pressure of the monthly cycle, there were limits to the impact that updates could have. Going forward, we aim to increase scale and influence to make a real change in the way users play the game."
The regular live service team will remain as before. Routine balance adjustments, bug fixes, store reorganization, and user events will continue. Embark Studio plans to focus on securing the overall soundness of the game environment, including adjusting economic balance and responding to illegal programs (nukes), based on the secured development margin.
The next large-scale update, ‘Frozen Mountain Path’, will be applied in October. This is the largest content addition since the official launch of 'Ark Raiders'.
This update opens a new colony designed with a layered structure. Users can explore new areas of the Rust Belt on the largest map in the game. The design and behavior patterns of arc enemies, which are mechanical creatures, have also been added to create variables in battle.
A new progression system will also be introduced for users who have reached the highest level. Expand the hideout to the maximum and give new goals to raiders who have already reached the skill point limit. In addition, story elements covering Ark's origins, a revamped skill tree, and new weapons and equipment are added.
In the next week, a new nomadic tribe merchant will be added that reflects user feedback in the latter part of the game. Unlocked at level 25, this merchant exchanges the user's high-value items for unique rewards or rare cosmetics.
In the 'Ark Raiders' community, the lack of inventory capacity and the absence of a place to utilize high-value items have been pointed out as major problems. A low participation rate also occurred due to the burden of losing items in case of death during the expedition.
Through new merchants, users can secure additional storage capacity. In particular, by using the newly introduced expedition safe, you can safely preserve up to 5 items during an expedition, alleviating the burden of equipment loss.
General Manager Alexander Gröndal said, “The goal has always been more than survival, it is to one day regain the land,” and added, “We will provide a long-term experience where progression, narrative, and worldview move forward together.”
