Spider-Man (Tengen)

Spider-Man is an unreleased action game for the Sega Mega Drive, supposed to be published by Tengen. It is based on the Spider-Man franchise. The game consists of Peter Parker (under his Spider-Man suit) being inside a warehouse full of marginals who wants to attack him. No audio of any kind plays during it. Both Spider-Man and the enemies themselves are invincible. For actions under the Control Pad, A throws web balls when Spider-Man is not moving, B does a punch (or a kick while moving or crouched) and C jumps (it is also possible to climb certain wooden boxes by pressing C again and using the D button to move around); START pauses the game as usual. Health bar, score counter, time and a photograph camera were also added as mechanics, but they are not functional (the score counter works to display coordinates of Spider-Man). It is unknown if Spider-Man was just meant to be a technical demonstration or if was about to be turned into a full game, though for the latter, Sega Enterprises managed to get a license from Marvel Entertainment than Tengen, of which the final game became Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin. The demo's source code was restored from a hard disk drive lot from Tengen and compiled into ROM format by Video Game History Foundation in December 2025.
