Archetype Interactive was a game development company founded in 1994 by Andrew Kirmse and Chris Kirmse. The company developed Meridian 59, which is recognized as the first 3D graphical massively multiplayer online role-playing game.

1994Andrew and Chris Kirmse began development of Meridian 59.
1995The alpha version of Meridian 59 went live to the public on December 15.
1996Archetype Interactive was acquired by The 3DO Company in June, and Meridian 59 was commercially released on September 27.
