Akazukin
Akazukin takes its name from the Japanese version of Red Riding Hood. In this game, the player takes the role of a hunter whose mission is to protect a Little Red Riding Hood-type character as she traverses a path to her grandmother’s house. Wolves and other dangers attempt to ambush her along the way. The game features a vertical-scrolling stage in which the non-player Little Red Riding Hood character moves upward automatically along a winding path. The player controls the hunter at the bottom of the screen, moving left or right and firing shots to eliminate wolves and obstacles before they can reach or strike the girl. If a wolf touches her, the player loses a life. The path includes branching segments, rivers to cross, and environmental hazards such as piranhas or obstructive frogs. As the game continues, the pace and number of enemies increase.
