Roboman

Roboman is a 1-player arcade clone of Robotron: 2084 for the BBC Micro. An error of genetic engineering has blessed the player with the superhuman powers needed to combat the electronic nasties. The player controls a human character who can move and fire in eight directions. He tries to kill all the vulnerable enemies and save the humans before they're killed by robots. There are several kinds of enemies. Grunts walk towards the player and are easily killed. Hulks are large and indestructible but are pushed back when shot. Cannon balls bounce randomly about the stage, and mutating brains transform grunts so that they move much faster. The player starts with three lives, and gains an additional life every 20,000 points.
