Benoit Richer, the main director of 'Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe (hereinafter referred to as Ark Hexe),' whose code name was officially revealed through the Ubisoft Showcase in 2022, left Ubisoft.

This news was announced through Benoit Richet's personal LinkedIn. He worked at Ubisoft for 9 years from March 2017 to April 2026, and announced on April 25 that he had joined the new indie developer Servo Games as a game director. He introduced Servo Games as "an indie studio comprised of industry veterans, with strong and complementary capabilities based on a common vision for creating experiences."

This is not the first time that 'Ark Hexe' has left the director level. Last February, the news that creative director Clint Hocking had left Ubisoft was reported through the overseas game media VGC. As his successor, Jean Guesdon, who served as director of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Origins, took the position as head of series content.

The atmosphere surrounding 'Ark Hexe' is unusual due to the successive departures of director-level figures. In line with Ubisoft's recent overall slump, some in the gamer community are raising concerns about development disruption.

Accordingly, the performance of the 4th remake, 'Black Flag Resynchronized', scheduled to be released on July 9th, is becoming more important. It is evaluated as a work that completed the marine navigation system, which has become the core content of the series, and as it is a remake of a work that is still considered a candidate for the best work in the series, attention is being paid to whether the results of this remake will be able to turn around the atmosphere of Ubisoft and the series as a whole.
