The Korea Artificial Intelligence Game Association announced that it will operate the domestic indie game exhibition brand hall 'Indio Rock Room' in connection with the global game exhibition '2026 PlayX4' hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
'Indio Rock Room' is an offline exhibition brand led by the association, and since its debut in 2018, it is celebrating its 8th anniversary this year and has established itself as a representative program that helps domestic indie game companies participate in and promote exhibitions. This event will be held from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Ilsan for 4 days from May 21 to 24, 2026.
Domestic indie games with various genres and personalities will participate in the exhibition and present creative content to visitors and industry officials.
In particular, it is designed as a user-centered program where developers and users communicate directly on site and exchange feedback. In addition, in order to revitalize the industry and promote industry exchange, the association will hold the '2026 Indieple Awards' to select the best indie games of the year on May 21, the first day of the event, and then at 7 p.m., a networking party with developers, publishers, and related organizations will be held to provide a venue for discovering business opportunities and sharing insights.
Meanwhile, the association voiced concerns about the recently changed indie game exhibition support policy. It is pointed out that with the change from the existing free support method to a method in which developers pay part of the participation fee themselves, the burden of participation on small teams or individual developers has increased.
Association officials noted that this cost burden could lead to reduced opportunities for participation in the indie game ecosystem, and emphasized that policy support and exhibition opportunities should continue to be expanded for indie games, which are the foundation of creativity and diversity. We plan to continue to expand opportunities for indie game developers to communicate with the market through 'Indio Lock Room'.
