'Canyon' Kim Geon-bu has shared his determination for the '2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games'.
At the '2026 LoL Champions Korea (LCK)' event, Inven had the opportunity to meet with 'Canyon', who will be representing the nation at the Asian Games, to hear his confident thoughts and aspirations. 'Canyon' was selected for the national team alongside 'Zeus' Choi Woo-je, 'Zeka' Kim Geon-woo, 'Faker' Lee Sang-hyeok, 'Gumayusi' Lee Min-hyeong, and 'Keria' Ryu Min-seok.
'Canyon' first shared, "I believe this is a truly special and precious opportunity. I plan to do my absolute best and approach it with all my effort," offering a brief yet impactful statement.
During the '2022 Hangzhou Asian Games', the national team jungler was 'Kanavi' Seo Jin-hyeok. At that time, 'Canyon' was on the reserve list but did not make the final roster. When asked if he had any regrets, he replied, "At that time, 'Kanavi' had won MSI and was in the best form. I believed the best player should go, so I didn't have any major regrets."
When asked if he believes his current form is the best, now that he has been selected for the national team, 'Canyon' stated, "I always play with the mindset that I am the best. However, I constantly think about what I lack and what more I need."
He continued, "Honestly, I think all junglers are performing well right now. For a jungler, rather than individual skill, it's most important to find and execute the role closest to the optimal solution based on their team. In that sense, I believe all junglers are doing well."
Since the national team is comprised of players from different teams, synchronizing quickly is paramount. 'Canyon' commented, "As we find the optimal solution that fits the patch, the thoughts of skilled players become very similar. Finding that direction quickly is the most important thing, and given everyone's high skill ceiling, I believe we can perform well."
He added, "Playing with players from other teams is an experience I haven't had many times. It will be very important and a great experience for me. I'm also excited about the prospect of being on the same team as players I've faced on high-stakes stages," and "However, I don't see this as a place to learn. My only thought is to do my best as a national representative."
Finally, 'Canyon' declared, "I absolutely want to play well and win the gold medal. I know it's not something you can just win by wanting it. I believe it can only be achieved through thorough and excellent play, so I will give it my all."
